Northeastern University Receives $17.5 Million from CDC to Launch Infectious Disease Prediction Center

Northeastern University has been awarded $17.5 million by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) to establish an innovative center aimed at enhancing the detection and preparedness for future infectious disease outbreaks, with a specific focus on rural areas. The initiative, named “EPISTORM: The Center for Advanced Epidemic Analytics and Predictive Modeling Technology,” will be led by Dr. Alessandro Vespignani, director of Northeastern’s Network Science Institute and Sternberg Family Distinguished University Professor.
